INNOV8HEAT Project

Introduction

The INNOV8HEAT project addresses the urgent need for sustainable and efficient energy use in industry by harnessing excess wind and solar energy that would otherwise be wasted.

The project aims to transform how industrial facilities manage their heating and cooling needs through the innovative use of phase change materials (PCMs). These materials store thermal energy when surplus renewable energy is available and release it when demand peaks.

This method not only enhances the efficiency of renewable energy use but also reduces dependence on fossil fuels, thereby lowering energy costs and minimising environmental impact.

To manage this complex system, INNOV8HEAT utilises advanced artificial intelligence to optimise the timing of energy storage and release based on real-time energy demands and market conditions.

INNOV8HEAT aspires to be a model for future energy systems, showcasing how the integration of cutting-edge technologies can lead to more sustainable industrial operations.

The project aims to set a new standard for industrial sustainability, contributing significantly to Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon economy and aligning with broader European energy objectives.

Project Duration

July 2025 - June 2028

Objectives

The INNOV8HEAT project aims to transform how industrial facilities manage their heating and cooling needs through the innovative use of phase change materials (PCMs), heat pumps and artificial intelligence. The PCMs will store energy when surplus renewable energy is available, with the stored energy then released when demand peaks.

By implementing smart algorithms, INNOV8HEAT aims to maximise the operational efficiency and economic benefits of renewable energy integration. This method not only enhances the efficiency of renewable energy use but also reduces dependence on fossil fuels, thereby lowering energy costs and minimising environmental impact.
